Law reform is desperately needed across the United States. We want to be as straightforward and effective as possible, so we are still working on this petition, but here are some points that will be included. Feel free to comment below on your thoughts and opinions, but please do so respectfully.

Domestic Violence often involves assault, assault and battery, sometimes with a deadly weapon, rape and sexual assault, false imprisonment, strangulation, and other felony offenses. With so many severe crimes, why do many perpetrators face little to no jail time? Domestic Violence needs to be treated like the serious, violent crime that it is, with law reform that is effective in keeping victims safe.

Abusers should immediately be detained for a required minimum of 7 days to give the victims time to get safe.

Bail should not be available because abusers pose a serious danger to their victims.

There should be mandatory minimum required prison terms with longer durations.

Domestic Violence should be recognized as a Federal Felony Offense in cases that involve a weapon, strangulation, rape, and when there is severe physical damage done to the victim.

Cases that involve multiple violent felonies should be mandatory 30 years to life.
